Skelly Rider is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of Skelly Rider for Windows 8…
When you launch the Skelly Rider app on your Windows 8 or 8.1 machine, you will be presented with the gameplay screen where you can start the game by clicking on the screen, or by tapping on the screen in case of touch screen devices.
Once you have clicked on the screen, you will be shown the controls of the game which are clearly visible in the screenshot below.
These controls are designed in a very minimalistic manner which only tell you about the bare minimum that you need to know to control the game. To skip through this controls screen, simply click or tap on the screen again, and you will be taken to the gameplay screen of the app. The gameplay screen looks like the below screenshot.
In the gameplay, you will be able to see your health at the top right of the screen. You can hit obstacles a total of three times before you die. You die on the third time that you strike an obstacle. Throughout the game, you will also find certain powerups floating around which you can easily collect by simply hovering over them. You can see that I have collected the shield power up in the above screenshot. The shield shields you from any obstacle that you hit till the time that it’s active. Your game’s motive is to keep yourself airborne by keeping on clicking on the screen (much like the Flappy Bird style of gameplay). When you die, you will be shown your game performance analysis in a screen which looks like the below screenshot.
Skelly Rider is a well designed endless runner game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which keeps you hooked and is a good pastime app as well! The game’s graphics are nice, and so is the background score of the game which has a trippy kind of a feel to it. The dinosaurs make you feel that you have teleported to the past, and the overall elements of the game including the powerups, etc. make for a nice overall feel.
I rate the game a 4 out of 5!
