Free Windows 8 Train Running Game App: Train Runner

Train Runner is a free game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 in which you have to control the train over the railway tracks by the controls at the bottom of the screen. The game has simple controls in which you have to switch the tracks of the train if you see that the railway line that you are on is broken or ending. The game also has several diamonds and coins pickups on the way which you can collect to give a boost to your score. If you run over a broken track, the train will get derailed and its game over.

Main features of Train Runner for Windows 8 and 8.1:

When you fire up the game on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device, you will be presented with the main screen of the game which looks like the below screenshot. This screen is basically the main menu of the game.

In the above screen, you can toggle the sound, read about the game info or simply start playing the game. To start a game, click on the Play button at the center of the screen and you will be shown the level selection screen. Just like any other game, initially only the first level is unlocked and subsequent levels will be unlocked as you progress through the game by completing the previous levels. The level selection screen of the game is shown below.

A level can be started by merely clicking on its number in the screen above. Once started, the gameplay screen will be presented to you as shown below.

During the gameplay, you will be able to see coin pickups and broken railway tracks. Your aim is to collect as many diamond and coin pickups as possible while trying to avoid broken railway tracks. You can switch tracks via the up and down arrow button at the bottom of the screen, and you can also see the score and the time elapsed at the top left corner of the screen. The game can be paused at any time via the pause button at the top right corner of the screen, and the pause menu will be shown on your screen as you can see in the below screenshot.

You can choose to resume, restart, go back to the home screen, go back to the level selection screen, toggle sounds or toggle music from the pause menu. Once your game is complete, you will be shown the level performance screen.
