Windows 8 App To Plan Projects, Schedule Reminders: ScheduleIt
ScheduleIt is a free Windows 8 app which allows you to schedule reminders and plan your projects and hence, set targets and deadlines. The app is extremely well designed and to the point. There are no ads in the app whatsoever which might get into your way, and the app is pretty lightweight as well. The app has a nice background, and when you start the app, you can straight off start scheduling reminders and adding plans via the + buttons next to each category. You can set the time for reminders and time for completion of projects as well, moreover, you can also add various sub tasks inside of a project plan by clicking on the tile of the added plan and then clicking on the Add Tasks button.
ScheduleIt is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of ScheduleIt for Windows 8 and 8.1:
When you install and launch the ScheduleIt app on your Windows 8 or 8.1 machine, you will be presented with the landing page which is nothing but the main screen of the app. This screen looks like the interface shown in the below screenshot.
To add a reminder to the app, simply click on the plus button next to the category heading “Reminders”. When you do so, you will be presented with a pop up dialog shown in the below screenshot.
Here, you can type the text for your reminder, select the category type from the drop down menu, set the date and time and also choose the highlight color for the tile of the reminder which will be displayed when you set it. Once all that is done with, simply click on the Create button. Once you have done that, you will be presented with the reminder added on your screen. You can see a created reminder added to the app in the below screenshot.
In the same way, you can also add Plans by clicking on the plus button next to the heading “Plans”. When you do this, you will be shown another pop up dialog on your screen in which you can enter the text which will be the title of your project plan. Once you have filled in the necessary details, you can click on the Create button to add the plan. An added plan is shown in the screenshot below.
When you click on the tile of a plan under the heading “Plans”, you will be shown a detailed project plan page wherein you will be able to update the plan progress, add new tasks to the project etc. The detailed project plan screen can be seen below.
You can update the plan progress via the Progress slider in the center tile. The details of the plan show the plan progress in a nice interface accompanied with pie charts. You can also divide the plan into various sub tasks by clicking on the ADD TASK button at the top right of the screen. When you do so, you will be presented with a popup where you can mention the name of the task and the progress percentage that it comprises of via a slider in the popup which is displayed in the screenshot below.

The verdict:
ScheduleIt is a well designed app with a clear, simple and unobtrusive interface which makes the task of scheduling reminders and planning projects on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device very easy. The app is lightweight as well and no ads make for a clean and refined experience. The app has almost everything that it needs to have to be a great scheduler app for Windows 8 and 8.1, and hence I would go ahead and rate it a 4 out of 5!
