Numberlink is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of Numberlink for Windows 8:
Upon installing and launching the Numberlink game on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device, you will be presented with an interface which allows you to select the difficulty level of the gameplay that you wish to play. This screen resembles the below shown screenshot.
Under each difficulty level, you can see the number of stages available. For instance, if you look closely in the above screenshot, you can see the Beginner stage has a total of 175 stages, the Very Easy stage has 200 stages and so on. Once you have selected a level, you will be taken to the stage selection screen. In the stage selection screen, you can choose from a number of sub stage packs, and you can click on any available stage in the stage packs. The stage packs are shown in the below screenshot.
The best part about the game is that you don’t need to complete a previous stage to proceed to a stage which is later on in the series of stages. For example, you can play the stage 42 before completing stage 1. This is a welcome feature as the traditional games require you to complete previous stages before you can move on in the game. The gameplay screen looks like the below screenshot.
As I had already said above, the object of the game is to join the similar colored dots via pipes which can be created by clicking on one dot and dragging your mouse or finger along the grid to the other dot in a way that the pipe or the link (or path) that you create does not come in the way of the path that might be required for joining the other dots. You can see the flows and your score, moves etc. towards the left side of the screen, and you can also use the back arrow button at the top left corner of the screen to go to the previous screen. When the game is complete, you will be shown the results as you can see below.
If you can complete the level in lesser moves, you can choose to play the level again. When you get a perfect score, you will be shown so in the result screen of the game when you complete the stage.
Numberlink is a pretty well designed game for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to put your brains to the test and join the dots. The concept seems easy, but trust me, it can get really frustrating at times to join the dots in a manner that the path of joining the other dots doesn’t get obstructed. The game is well designed, but is ad supported. A quick work around to hide the ads is to disconnect the internet of your device while playing!
I rate the app a 4 out of 5.
