HD Video-Player is a free app for Windows 8 and 8.1 devices which allows you to play back a lot of formats of video on your device. The app is perfect if you are looking for a lightweight video player application which doesn’t consume a lot of RAM and is not heavy on resources as well. The app when launched presents you with a control bar at the bottom of the screen which enables you to select the file that you wish to open up for playback. You can simply open up the file via the Open File button at the bottom of the screen in the control bar.

When you install and run the app on your device, you will be presented with a screen which looks like the screenshot below.
As can be seen in the screenshot above, you will be able to see the app’s control bar at the very bottom of the screen which allows you to either open up a file for playback, view the help section or allows you to rate the app. All these controls are accessible very easily at the very bottom of the screen, and clicking on any one of these buttons will perform the respective task. When you click on the Open File button, you will be presented with the familiar metro file browser interface which allows you to navigate and select the file that you wish to play back on your device. Once you have chosen the file for playback, you will be presented with the below video player interface which easily shows you the playback controls on the screen as well.
The video playback controls allow you to play, pause, seek the track etc. You can also choose to snap the video player app to either side of the screen by clicking and dragging the app from the top of the screen towards either side. The playback controls fade out after a few seconds and you will be able to see the video in full screen size. To get back the playback controls on your screen, you can simply move your mouse around. You can also access the control bar of the app at any time by right clicking anywhere on the screen. Clicking on the Help button opens up the about section of the app which can be seen in the screenshot below.
