Free Spider Solitaire Game App for Windows 8: Spider Solitaire HD
Spider Solitaire HD is a free Spider Solitaire game app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices which allows you to play the classic Spider Solitaire cards game on your device. The app is well designed, and has smooth animations, graphics and sound effects. The app when launched presents you with its main screen where you can start a new game. The app also allows you to configure various other options about the game like the table color, the card style, etc. When the game is running, you will be able to see the timer, score, pause button etc. towards the right side of the screen in a vertical dock like view. The rules for playing the game are exactly the same as the original Spider Solitaire game, with the game being played with 104 cards.

Features of Spider Solitaire HD for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:
When you install and launch the Spider Solitaire HD game app on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 machine, you will be presented with the main interface of the app which is nothing but the main menu of the app. This interface looks like the below screenshot.
You can view the game rules by clicking on the How To Play button at the bottom right of the screen. Clicking this button brings up a screen which shows you the rules of the game, and this screen looks like the below screenshot.
Clicking on the back button at the bottom left will take you back to the main screen. In the main screen, you can also configure the settings of the game which allow you to change the card styles, background color, etc. You can see the various settings options available to you via the Settings button in the below screenshot.
Once you have configured the settings, you can go back to the main screen of the game and start a new game. Once a new game has been started, you will be shown the gameplay interface which resembles the below screenshot. As you can see below, the unused card deck is visible at the bottom right, and it can be clicked on to add a card on top of every visible card deck with open cards. Use this deck wisely and only at times when there are no more possible moves.
You can undo your last move, use the hint option, view score, timer, and other options at the left side of the screen in a vertical dock. You can pause the game by clicking on the green Play button at the bottom, just above the Back button. Upon clicking it, you will be presented with options as shown below.
As you can see, you can choose to replay (restart) the same game, start a New game or view the Help section (rules) of the game via the menu which opens up. The verdict:
Spider Solitaire HD is a great game to download and have on your Windows 8 device if you like playing Spider Solitaire. The game is well designed and lightweight, and the only qualm I have with the game is that it has ads.
