Free Solitaire Game App for Windows 8: Fairway Solitaire

Fairway Solitaire is a spin on the classic solitaire game app. The app is designed for Windows 8 and 8.1, and in the app, you have to select a card which is either one higher or lower than the card at the bottom of the screen. You have to select the cards at the top of the screen, but if none of the cards fit the criteria, you can use the deck of cards next to the card at the bottom to add a random card at the top of the card at the bottom, and then you can go on with the same rules. The game has nice graphics, and also features a cute little introduction video.

Main features of Fairway Solitaire for Windows 8:

When you install and fire up the Fairway Solitaire game app on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device, you will be presented with a cute little introduction video to the game which tells you that the game is in fact a battle between the golfers and the gophers. A snap of the game introduction video is shown in the screenshot below.

The gophers are projected as cute little creatures who want the golfers to run away from their territory. Anyways, when the game video is over, you will be presented with the main screen of the game wherein you can start the game by clicking on the screen (or tapping on the screen in case of touch screen devices). Upon clicking on the screen, you will be presented with the level selection screen. Initially only the first level is unlocked, and the other levels get unlocked as you progress through the game and complete the previous levels. The level selection screen is shown in the screenshot below.

In the above screen, you can see that only the first level is unlocked. When you select this level, you will be taken to the gameplay screen of the game. As this is the first level of the game, you will be shown the instructions on your screen, but they won’t be visible on any of the further levels. The gameplay screen is displayed in the screenshot below.

You have to select the cards which are either one number higher or lower than the card at the bottom. If you run out of such cards at the top of the screen, you can always click on the deck neighboring the card at the bottom and this will place a random card on top of the card next to it. Now, you can forget about the previous card and take the new card into consideration, and thus select a card which is one higher or lower than the newly placed card. The game can also be paused at any time via either the Esc. key, or by clicking on the upward facing arrow button at the bottom left of the screen which will present you with the options shown in the following screenshot.

You can choose to return to the main menu, restart the level, view the scoreboard or access the settings of the game via buttons which tell you exactly how to do so. This sums up the main features of the Fairway Solitaire game app for Windows 8 and 8.1.

The verdict:

Fairway Solitaire is a good solitaire game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to play a different kind of solitaire with cute gophers and the golfers. The app has smooth graphics and definitely makes for a good download for all Windows 8 and 8.1 devices.
