Free Scientific Calculator For Windows 8: RetroCalc
RetroCalc
RetroCalc is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Features of RetroCalc for Windows 8:
Upon launching RetroCalc, you will be presented with a fairly standard calculator interface on your screen which allows you to perform standard calculations with ease. The interface that is presented to you looks like a futuristic digital pad with red digits that give the app a nice feel. You can see the main interface of the app in the below screenshot.
Above, you can see the various digits in the calculator pad. You can type in the numbers, and add, subtract, multiply or divide easily. You can use the ENTER button to show the result after the operators (+,-,x,รท) have been applied. As you can see in the above screenshot, the calculator consists of a host of scientific functions at the top, including exponential functions, logarithms, trigonometric functions, and also pi function at the bottom of the screen. You can use the CLx to make the digit on the screen 0, and perform a fresh calculation. The below screenshot shows the sine calculation of a number.
Using the calculator is fairly straightforward, so no rocket science there. Only difference is that in the app, you have to click on the ENTER button as there is no = button. There are also certain shortcuts on the calculator that allow you to find the reciprocal of the number easily (i.e., the 1/x button). Simply input a number, and click the 1/x button. Immediately, you will be presented with the decimal value of the reciprocal. The app can also be snapped to either side of the screen which allows for multitasking. The calculator is fully usable in multitasking mode as well, and hence, the app is totally awesome. The multitasking mode of the app is illustrated in the below screenshot.
You can see that the app works well while snapped, and all the controls are completely accessible. In fact, there is no difference in the controls that are visible in multitasking mode and when the app is open in full screen mode. This sums up the main features of the RetroCalc app for Windows 8!

The verdict:
RetroCalc is a great app that you can download and have on your Windows 8 device if you are looking for a simple and easy to use calculator app which allows you to multitask as well. The app can be grabbed off from the App Store for free, and the best part is that it has scientific functions and is ad free at that as well! Overall, this is one well designed calculator app which is surely worth a look!
I rate it a 4.5 out of 5.
