DoodleRunner is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of DoodleRunner for Windows 8 and 8.1:
When you install and run the DoodleRunner app on your Windows 8 or 8.1, you will be straight off presented with the main screen which is nothing but the main menu of the game. This menu can be seen below.
In the main screen, you can see three options, namely –
Play: Clicking on this button starts the gameplay. When you click on this button, the game starts and you have to control the character, guiding it over the obstacles. The gameplay screen is shown in the below screenshot.
You can control the game character via the arrow buttons. Up arrow makes the character jump, and the down arrow makes it crouch. You can see the character midway in a jump in the above screenshot. You can also touch at the bottom of the screen to perform these jumping or crouching operations.
Help: Clicking on this button shows you the help screen of the game wherein you will basically be introduced to the controls of the game. It’s advisable that you click on this button if it is your first time playing the game.
The help screen is pretty minimalistic, and tells you about the basic touch controls.
High Score: Clicking this button shows you the highest run score on your screen in a full screen view.
You can click on the Back button at the bottom to be taken back to the previous screen. Within the gameplay, you can also pause the game by pressing the Esc. button. My overall experience with the game is that it’s lag free and runs as smooth as butter!
DoodleRunner is a nice and user friendly running game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to play as a doodled character and make him jump over obstacles to achieve as high score as possible. The game has pretty basic graphics, which nevertheless look great and are very smooth. I absolutely adore the app, and will definitely rate it a 4.5 out of 5!
