Free File Manager For Windows 8: Aerize Explorer

Aerize Explorer is a free file manager app for Windows 8 and 8.1. When you launch the app, you will be presented with a brief introduction screen wherein you will be briefed about the various controls of the app and the entire procedure that needs to be followed to use the app. You can add folders or volumes to the explorer’s main screen via the toggle bar at the bottom of the screen, and once added, you can simply click on these added locations to browse through them. The app has a very clean interface, and as a bonus, it allows for changing the look and feel of the app entirely by giving you the options of changeable themes, etc.

Aerize Explorer is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Main features of Aerize Explorer for Windows 8 and 8.1:

When you install and launch the Aerize Explorer app on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device, you will be presented with the landing page of the app where you will be shown some brief instructions about using the app and how you can add locations to the explorer screen. This interface is shown in the below screenshot.

In the above screen, you can click on the Add button in the control bar at the bottom of the screen and then you will be taken to the Windows’ default file manager. From here, you can choose to add the locations that you wish to add and incorporate into the main interface of the Aerize Explorer. Once you have selected your desired drives or folders, click on the OK button and you will be taken to the main screen where you will be able to see all the locations that you have just selected.

You can see the added locations and the about section of the app in the above screenshot. The about section can be accessed at any time by clicking on the button corresponding to the same at the bottom of the screen. The app also has a settings pane from where you can change the look and feel of the app. This can be accessed by clicking on the Settings button at the bottom control bar. The settings pane is shown below.

You can see in the screenshot below that I have changed the background of the app to a clean leather like background.

You can begin browsing by clicking on the locations that you have added to the app. The file browser screen is shown in the screenshot above. You can see that when I click on a file, it gets launched immediately in the default app that is assigned to open the file. The below screenshot shows a music file that starts playing when I click on one.

The app also allows you to view the properties of files, cut, paste, copy them etc. via right clicking on them and then selecting the appropriate option from the control bar at the bottom of the screen. You can also share a file through the app by right clicking on one and clicking the Share button at the bottom of the screen which fires up a share charm from the right side of the screen.

You can then choose the sharing options that you wish to share the file from. The app also works in snapped mode and this is a big plus! That wraps up the main features of the Aerize Explorer app for Windows 8 and 8.1.

Aerize Explorer is a nice File manager app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to easily manage your files and folders within the metro ecosystem. The app makes for a nice download if you are looking for viable replacements for your default metro Windows 8 file explorer app!
