Free Delicious Client For Windows 8 And 8.1: Metrolicious

Metrolicious is a free Delicious.com client for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices. As you must already be aware, Del.icio.us (or Delicious.com) provides you with a way to save the popular links on your account by tagging and posting comments about the same. You can also subscribe to a feed of links by searching them up through their tags. This app allows you to do just the same, in a Metro style environment!

When you launch the app, you will be presented with a set of links and subscriptions saved by default. If you don’t want to see these, you can log in to your own account and then choose to see the links that you have bookmarked by pressing Win+I to bring up the in-app charms bar, select Account, enter your credentials and login. You will then be displayed with your profile and the items that you have bookmarked! Metrolicious is available as a free download from the Windows App Store.

Metrolicious - Account Screen

As you can see above, I am logged into my account above. You can see the recent posts on the pages that I have bookmarked, and the recent tags related to the content that I like in the form of tiles. All these tiles are interactive and you can click on them to reveal more information. You can also see the control bars at the top and the bottom of the screen which allow you to navigate through the various sections of the app, and also allow you to refresh the feed. Let’s see what happens when we click on a tile.

Metrolicious - Tile Options

As we can see, you are presented with options to generate QR code, open in web or text view on instapaper. Each of the options perform the corresponding functions with extreme ease.

Textview Using Instapaper: Presents you with a clean interface of a text only version of the page.

All in all, this app gives is a great way to manage your links on Delicious.com by providing you with almost all the same, if not all the same options.

The Verdict…

The clean and uncluttered interface of Metrolicious make the app a great one to manage your links on Delicious.com. I specially love the Instapaper feature of the app, providing you with the text only version of a page. Overall, the app is smooth, and doesn’t consume a lot of battery juice. My first impressions of this app are surely great, and I’m gonna land it with a score of 4 out of 5!
