Dark Arcana: The Carnival is a free adventure game for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 . In this game you play as the detective who has to find the lost mother of a child. Over the way, you will collect clues, and find evidence that will help you in your journey. The controls of the game are very simple, and it basically follows the mouse click concept. To collect a clue, simply click on an object. In between the game, certain cut screen videos and graphics will keep you entertained. The game ran pretty smooth on my test machine without draining a lot of memory, so that’s another plus!

When you launch Dark Arcana: The Carnival on your Windows 8 device, you will be presented with the below screen.
Just click on Play Now button indicated in the screen above, and the game should start. Upon starting the game, you will be presented with a nice video which will tell you about the storyline of the game.
The video is very well made and gives a cinematic feel to the game. After the video is over, or you have pressed the Skip button on the video, you will be presented with the main interface of the game. The first thing that will happen is that you will be presented with a tutorial. It basically teach you how to click on people and interact with them, and how to pick up objects. Once the tutorial is complete, you will be able to play the game. Also, at any point of time, you can choose to skip the tutorial via the Skip Tutorial button.
The game progresses fast, and soon enough you will find yourself digging for clues. A standard clue location looks like the below screenshot.
You have to find the objects listed in the box at the bottom of the screen. The game also allows you to play Monaco instead of finding the clues, if you feel that finding the clues is too tough. Monaco can be started by clicking on the Monaco button which is next to the Hints button on the bottom right screen corner. You can also access your diary or inventory at any point of time via the buttons at the bottom left screen corner. The Hints button is a pretty useful button and will point you to a random item on the list at the bottom which you haven’t been able to find. Use the Hints wisely, because they are limited and take a long time to recharge.
You can also access the pause menu at any point by clicking the Esc button on your keyboard. The pause menu allows you to access the options that allow you to continue, access achievements, other options, help, or go back to the menu.
Well that pretty much concludes how to play this game. Overall, it’s a pretty nice app that keeps you hooked, and this is definitely one adventure game that you should definitely try. You can also check out Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden which is a similar adventure game!

Overall, Dark Arcana: The Carnival is a great adventure game for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices with great cut scene videos, nice graphics, and friendly controls. You will surely fall in love with this game! I love the fact that there are no in game ads, which makes this even more better. The only thing that I don’t really like about the game is that its size is massive – over 500 Mb! Keeping that aside, this is surely a fun game to play!
