Free Puzzle Game For Windows 8: Color Quest
Color Quest is a free puzzle game for Windows 8 and 8.1 in which you have to click on groups of three or more similar blocks to make them vanish. The game is split into multiple levels, and the motive of each level will be displayed on your screen when you start the level. In some levels, you have to achieve a target score, whereas in some, you have to clear the board in limited number of moves. Whatever the case, the gameplay rules are same in all levels, that is, you have to click on three or more similar blocks to make the entire group blow up and vanish from the screen. Your score and stats will be displayed at the top of the gameplay screen.

The main features of Color Quest:
When you run the Color Quest game on your device, you will straight off be taken to the level selection screen, where you will be able to choose a particular level for playing. The game has a lot of levels, each of which get unlocked when you complete the previous level. The level selection screen looks like the above screenshot.
You can see the various levels on the map. You can click on each of the unlocked levels to start the gameplay for that particular level. If you look in the above screen, you will also be able to see a small gear icon which is the settings button at the bottom right of the screen. When pressed, it allows you to tweak the basic game settings. The settings popup is shown clearly in the below screenshot.
When a game level starts, you will be presented with the below interface where first off, your motive of the level will be displayed on the screen. There are many limited move levels, and many limited time levels as well.
In the game, wherever you see similar blocks in groups of three or more, you can click on them to make them pop and vanish from your screen. The bigger the group that you pop, the higher score you are rewarded. The remaining moves and the score bar can be seen at the top of the screen during any point of the gameplay, and you can pause the game at any time via the Esc. key. The level is complete when the goals of the level are met. If your target is to achieve a score of 25000 in less than 25 moves and you are able to do that, you will also be awarded bonus points when the level ends. The bonus is awarded based on the number of remaining moves/time before which the level is completed. Once a level ends, you will be shown your performance result in a popup.
To sum it all up, Color Quest is a pretty dandy game for all ages to put your wits to the test! The difficulty level increases which each level, and you can be sure to remain entertained throughout the period of time that you play the game!

Verdict:
Color Quest is a pretty well designed game with optimizations made appropriately to support all sorts of touch and non touch hardware devices. The game works well on even the lower end devices, and hence makes for a great way to pass your time when you are travelling or are so bored that you have nothing else to do. It will really put your wits to the test, and I won’t think twice before saying that this really is a pretty decent and challenging puzzle game for Windows 8 and 8.1 devices!
