Free Running Game For Windows 8: Pocket Avenger
Pocket
Pocket Avenger is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Features of Pocket Avenger for Windows 8:
When you download and install Pocket Avenger on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, upon running it you will be taken to the main screen of the game where you can choose your hero which you want to play with in the game.
In the above screen, simply click on the character you want to play with, and then click on the CONTINUE button at the bottom. Once you do that, you will be taken to the level selection screen. Initially, only the first level of the game will be unlocked, but as you will progress through the game, you will unlock more and more levels. You can select the levels through the map which looks like a digital grid. Here, you can click on the level that you wish to play, read the mission information at the bottom etc. You can also see your resources at the top of the screen, and you can start a level by clicking on a level, and then clicking on the twin gun icon at the bottom left of the screen.
The gameplay screen is very smooth, but the gameplay screen suffers from the SCREENSHOT BUG. When you try to take screenshots of the gameplay, the screenshots although do show what’s going on in the screen, but for some strange reason, the screenshots appear glitchy with a lot of random text thrown in at the bottom, which is strange because this text does not show up on the screen but only shows up in the screenshots. Maybe it’s got something to do with buggy shader code. As you might recall, FIFA 14 also suffers from the same glitch. Don’t worry too much about this glitch if you don’t plan on taking screenshots of the gameplay, because the game looks and plays absolutely smooth and this glitch doesn’t show up on the gameplay screen, just shows up in screenshots.
As you can see in the above screenshot, due to the glitch, the graphics in screenshots get distorted. But if you look closely, you can see the avenger at the left of the screen, and whenever a zombie approaches, the avenger automatically shoots him down. You can use the chainsaw boost by clicking the chainsaw icon at the bottom right of the screen, and this will allow you to kill a massive wave of zombies at one go. You can see your remaining health and the remaining zombies at the top, and right over the running avenger, you can see the remaining bullets. You can pause the game by pressing the Esc. button, and once the level is complete, you are awarded rewards. The only controls are clicking on the screen to jump over obstacles. The avenger fires the rounds at the zombies automatically!
You can also unlock achievements as you progress!
The headquarters of the app look like the below screenshot.
Above, you can upgrade your units for better upgrades during the game like speed, agility etc. You can access the map, shop etc. via the icons displayed at the bottom. In all, this concludes the basic how to and the main features of the Pocket Avenger app for Windows 8.
You can also try out Zombie Tsunami and Zombie Lines if you enjoy playing zombie games.
The verdict:
Pocket Avenger is a great game that allows you to pass time while shooting down zombies and having great fun at the same time. The app is absolutely well designed, and makes sure that you don’t ever get bored while playing the game. The running concept is great, and so are the graphics. Overall, if there was no screenshot bug, the game wouldn’t have lost any points at all, but due to that, I rate the game a 4 out of 5!
