Free News App For Windows 8: NDTV

NDTV is a news app published by the NDTV Convergence Ltd as their official news app. The NDTV app is absolutely free for Windows 8 and 8.1 The app asks for permission to run in the background, send you the notifications on the lock screen and to show quick status.

There are three sections in the app namely news, photos and videos. Each section has their respective content related to the news from different categories. On the top of each section, you will see a red tile stating all news, all photos and all videos depending on the section you are in.

On the right side of the news section, you will see black small sized tiles for recent, people, blog, cricket, sports, trending, opinion, cheat sheet, football and entertainment. These are categories for the news and they show the news that is relevant in that topic or genre of news.

In photos section you will see categories like latest, entertainment, news, lifestyle, business, gadgets, health and sports. The photos for various events and happenings are shown as a big tile on the screen which takes you to the gallery of that particular topic. The photos in the app open in a slideshow manner, you can toggle around by clicking on the left and right arrow. You can also browse them with the help of the mouse.

In videos section, there is NDTV prime, trending, recent, news, sports, business, entertainment,m lifestyle, exclusive and entertainment as the categories. The videos in the app play really well, if you do not have Windows Media feature pack then you should install it on your desktop for streaming.

On the top right side you will see a refresh button that can refresh the app and bring the latest news feed to the dashboard.
