Windows 8 Smart News And Feed Reader App: Dailyaha
Dailyaha
Dailyaha is available as a free download from the Windows App Store.
Features of Dailyaha for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:
When you install and launch Dailyaha on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device for the first time, you will be presented with the first run screen on your device which will tell you about the various controls of the app. The first run screen looks like the below screenshot.
This first run screen will automatically close, revealing the main screen of the app in a few moments. The main screen of the app resembles the below screenshot. You can see the registration box open at the right side of the screen, and the tiles of the feed fetched from RSS feed URLs that have come pre defined into the app. You can register your email id for frequent newsletters from the developers, etc.
Once it’s all done, you can access the catalogs by clicking on the magnifying glass button in the top right corner of the screen which will open the catalogs pane from the right side of the screen.
In the catalogs page, you can choose to view the predefined content via category tiles at the top. These tiles are light orange in color. Clicking on a tile will show you the relevant content. You can also add your own feeds via the My Content tile which is dark orange in color. What’s magical about the catalogs page is that it allows you to see feeds from Facebook profile, watch YouTube videos etc., all by simply logging in using your login credentials for the same and selecting the appropriate option for the same. You can see my Facebook news feed displayed in a reader like interface below.
You can click on any of the content tiles to open them up in full screen size. Similarly, you can login to YouTube and browse content there as well. The best part is that the app has its own video player interface for YouTube built in, and you can also choose the video quality. Currently, the app only offers 360p and 720p quality for video playback.
In the catalog page, you can also choose to search for content in the search bar. You can say, search for funny cats, and you will be shown blogs which have photos of funny cats, and so on. The thing that I really like about the app is that it has a true magazine like interface, with page flip effects like a real magazine. You can see so in the below screenshot. To flip a page, you can mere slide your finger across the screen, or click on the arrow button on either side of the screen on non touch devices.
Below, you can see a news article from FOX News open in the reader interface. You can see how crisp the quality is!
You can scroll horizontally, and can flip the page in the same manner as discussed above. This basically concludes the main features and the brief how to on using the Dailyaha app on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device.
You can also check out the Readers Digest and SimpiRSS apps for Windows 8.
Conclusion:
Dailyaha is a well designed and extremely polished app with buttery smooth transition effects that acts as a smart feed reader as well as a video player client for websites that support video playback through RSS. The app’s text reader as well as video player interfaces are exceptionally immaculate, and this app gives fruition to the fact that not all the best things in the world have a price tag! The app is completely free, has no ads, and is extremely lightweight.
I wouldn’t have to think twice before rating this app a 5 out of 5!
Get Dailyaha.
