Windows 8 Clipboard Manager Free: Clipboard

Clipboard is a free Windows 8 clipboard manager app that allows you to share the information stored on the clipboard of your Windows 8/8.1 device with other apps. The app is basically a very handy tool that can be used easily for sharing information from your clipboard to other apps that support the share charm feature on Windows 8/8.1. Upon opening the app, simply press on the Share button at the center of the screen, and this will fire up the Share charm from the right side of the screen, and then you can go ahead and select the app to which you want to share the data on your clipboard. When you launch the app, it will not show you anything other than the Share button in the center of the screen, and this can be a bit annoying because at times you may not know the information that you are actually sharing before you actually share it. If you ask me, the app should have provided some way of a preview before you share the clipboard data to other apps.

Clipboard is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Features of this Windows 8 Clipboard Manager…

When you launch Clipboard on your Windows 8/8.1 device, you will be presented with an interface which resembles the below screenshot.

clipboard main screen

As you can see in the above screenshot, the interface of the app is extremely minimal. There is just a Share button at the center of the screen that allows you to share the information on your clipboard with other apps that can make use of the Share charm. When you click on the Share button, a Share charms bar flies in from the right side of the screen. This bar looks like the below screenshot.

As I have an image on my clipboard, so I can see the options for apps that support sharing images. Let me select Mail from the right pane.

As you can see in the above window, the image on my clipboard is attached successfully to the Mail app as an email message. Similarly, if you have text placed on your clipboard, you will get options for apps that support sharing of text in the Share charms bar.

My biggest complaint with this app is that it doesn’t show the preview of the content on the clipboard. This can be a bit annoying because you will only be able to see the information on your clipboard when you select an app from the list on the Share charm. Overall, the app is a great tool to quickly share clipboard content. What’s more, suppose you want to share a screenshot, you can simply press the Print screen button on your keyboard, and directly share the image on the clipboard without the need to paste the image in an image editing software, and then saving it, and then sharing the image with the app. If you ask me, it makes the entire job much easier! The app has no control bars, so let’s not bother about it at all!

Pros…

  • Simple minimalist interface.
  • Allows you to share screenshots on your clipboard without the need of saving the screenshots, and then attaching them.
  • Allows sharing text with apps like task managers, note taking apps, email apps, etc.
  • Very lightweight (52 Kb).

Cons…

  • No preview for content on clipboard.

The Verdict…

Clipboard is a pretty handy tool that you can use on your Windows 8/8.1 device for making the sharing process from your Windows clipboard much easier. The app is available for free, and definitely makes for a great little tool!

I rate this app a 4 out of 5.
