PressReader is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of PressReader for Windows 8 and 8.1:
When you launch the PressReader app on your device, you will be presented with the landing page of the app.
Above you can see the brief how to of using the app. You can click anywhere on the screen to hide the how to message of the app. If you use a touch screen device, you can also touch on the screen to hide the how to gesture messages. Once hidden, you can click on any of the magazine/newspaper previews to download them. Once you click on a preview, you will be taken to a screen where you will be asked for a confirmation message if you wish to download the issue.
Click OK. Once downloaded, you can click on the preview of the downloaded item and you will be taken straight to the reader interface of the app.
You can see that the app serves the pages of the issue in a magazine like format. You can slide your finger across the screen or click and drag your mouse to be taken to the next set of pages. You can also access the control bar of the app by right clicking on the reader interface. The reader interface at the top allows you to jump directly to a page, and at the bottom of the screen allows you to switch to a text only view, change the page layout etc.
Going back to the previous screen is as convenient as performing a single click on the back arrow button at the top left corner of the screen. This concludes the main features of PressReader.
