Free Tetris Game For Windows 8: Tetris with online leader board
Tetris with online leader board is a free Tetris game for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 that does exactly what its name suggests. The game is a free Tetris game in which you have to match the blocks and create as high score as possible. When the game ends, you can choose to publish your score online, and you can also see the all time high scores of the game. The high scores are displayed at the right side of the gameplay screen. Overall, the gameplay is pretty smooth, and although no internet connection is required to play the game itself, but if you wish to see the highest scores of other players or if you wish to publish your score online, you do require an internet connection for that.
Tetris with online leader board is available as a free download from the Windows App Store under the Games category.
Gameplay…
When you launch Tetris with online leader board on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device, you will be presented with a screen which looks like the below screenshot.
As you can see in the above screen, you are presented with the game interface with the touch controls at the bottom of the screen. At the bottom right, you will be able to see the block direction and speed control arrows, and at the bottom left, you will be able to see the block rotation arrow. These touch controls make the game friendly for touch screen devices. For non touch screen device users, you can use the arrow buttons on your keyboard to control the direction of motion of the blocks (left arrow for left, right arrow for right), down arrow key for controlling the speed of the block. You can also use the up arrow key to rotate the block and help it fit into spaces between the other blocks. Now let’s get to the gameplay itself. When you click on the Start Game button at the top right screen corner, your game will start and the gameplay will look like the below screenshot.
The game gets over when you are unable to eliminate the blocks and they have piled up to the top of the screen. You can also keep a track of your score and all time high scores towards the right side of the screen. Once your game is complete, you will be asked to enter your name and publish your score.
You can now choose to play another round if you wish to! Overall, this is a great game to keep you entertained for hours, and the leaderboard feature in this Tetris game will keep you even more glued to your screen as you try and beat the world’s highest scorers in the game!

What I like about this Tetris game?
- Lightweight.
- Leader board facility that keeps track of the world’s highest scores in the game, also allows you to publish your score to the leaderboard.
- Touch screen controls.
- Smooth graphics.
- Launch time is very less.
What I don’t like about this Tetris game?
- The game takes up only a portion of the screen instead of using the whole screen.
- Unlike other Tetris games, you can’t see the next incoming block.
- No portrait mode support.
- Ads.
My Verdict…
Tetris with online leader board is a great game to play Tetris on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, and stay entertained for hours on end. Overall, the game is a really fun way to pass your time, and the leaderboard support makes it all the more exciting to play. The game may not have the best graphics and may not be the best out there, but let me say this – this is definitely something that you won’t regret downloading if you are a fan of block games like Tetris!
