Rescue Riverdale With Archie: Riverdale Rescue For Windows 8
Archie: Riverdale Rescue is a free game for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 in which you have to control various characters of the Archie team – including Archie himself, Jughead, Veronica, Betty, and Reggie. The game starts by telling us about how the mayor of Riverdale has ran away with all the town’s money leaving the town in a mess. The aim of Archie and the team is to bring the town back to how it was before. The team starts by cleaning the trash, graffiti on the walls, etc., and then restores the town to its former glory.
The game has nice graphics and it will keep you hooked. You can grab it for free from the Windows App Store.
Features…
When you launch the game, you will be presented with the storyline of the game in the form of a comic strip. You can skip through it by clicking the arrows below the comic strip, or by clicking on the red cross (see below screenshot).
Once that’s out of the way, the game will start, and you will be able to see a dialog between Archie and Jughead.
All dialogs will appear on the screen in the above speech bubble format. Once the dialog is over, it’s time to get down to business! You will be assigned your tasks, which you can also view by clicking on the white paper at the right side of the screen.
It’s very easy to follow directions for tasks, as you just have to click where the yellow arrow marker is pointing on the screen (see above screenshot). In the above screen, my mission was to clear the trash, and hence I had to remove the dead grass by clicking on it! Upon completion of a task, you will be shown a message on the screen that your task has been completed, and you have to click on the green tick mark to collect your energy and money rewards.
The reward screen displayed upon clicking the green tick in the above screen looks like the below screenshot.
The game relies on energy points to complete tasks, and hence once your energy is complete drained to 0%, you have to wait until the energy recharges so that you can complete more tasks! Once the energy is out, you will be shown a message corresponding to the same!
The money that you gain as reward money can be used to purchase items in the store. The store menu can be opened by pressing the spanner option in bottom right corner. You can then navigate to the item you want to purchase, and then you can place it on the map.
Well this is how the game goes on. Same controls can be used to progress through the game. It’s a long, but interesting game with the sole aim of restoring the destroyed town of Riverdale to its former glory again! You will have a lot of fun playing the game!
What I like about this game?

- Lightweight, only about 52 Mb in size.
- Smooth gameplay, great graphics.
What I don’t like about this game?
- Limited energy points to perform task.
- Real money is needed to purchase energy drinks if you don’t want to wait for energy to replenish.
The Verdict…
Archie: Riverdale Rescue is a great game to have on your Windows 8 device if you are looking forward to have fun and pass some time on your Windows 8 device when you have nothing else to do. You are also participating in a social cause by making the town of Riverdale better for Archie and folks (pun intended)!
