Official 3DMark Benchmarking App For Windows 8
3DMark has finally been released for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices, and if you don’t already know, this is a benchmarking app that allows you to compare your CPU and GPU performance with other devices running the same OS. The app has three tests to benchmark your CPU and GPU performance, and is mainly focused on the graphic benchmarking. The tests are Ice Storm, Ice Storm Extreme and Ice Storm Unlimited, each putting a bit more stress on your system to check its maximum potential. Each test has a series of three sub tests, namely Graphics Test, Graphics Test 1 and Physics Test. The app offers a very clean interface from where you can run these benchmark tests individually and can then view your scores.
3DMark is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of 3DMark for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices:
3DMark when installed and launched on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device will present you with an interface which looks like the above screenshot. You can also call this the main screen of the app.
In the above screen, you can scroll to the bottom vertically and then choose to launch any one of the three tests in the list. You can see the three tests listed in the screenshot below.
It’s recommended that you run these tests in sequence, i.e., first run the Ice Storm, then Ice Storm Extreme and finally the Ice Storm Unlimited test. You can run them by clicking on the Run button next to each of the test names. You can see the Ice Storm Test running in the below screenshot.
Once you have ran the tests, you can choose to then view your test results by clicking on the My Device tab at the top. When you do so, all your scores for the tests that you have run will be listed on your screen.
You can also view the benchmark scores for other devices by clicking on the Device Channel tab. When you do so, you will be presented with an interface where you will be able to see the devices with highest scores at the top, and the devices with lower scores in decreasing order right below them in a vertically scrollable list.
