Media Player App For Windows 8: iTunes One

iTunes One is a free media player app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices which allows you to play back music and video files on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device. The app is lightweight, and supports creation of playlists, adding multiple folders at once and so on. The app also supports a massive range of video formats, including mp4, avi, wmv, etc. iTunes One has a nice interface which also supports customizing the playlists of music that you add in the app, by allowing you to add a custom photo for a playlist, etc. The app doesn’t drain battery as well, and hence is a good media player replacement app.

Features of iTunes One for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:

When you install and launch iTunes One on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, you will be presented with the main screen of the app wherein you will be able to add the media files that you wish to play back via the control bar at the bottom of the screen. You can see the media player interface in the above screenshot with the songs added.

You can add music files by clicking on the Open or the Open folder button at the bottom of the screen, depending on if you want to add single or multiple media files at once. You can also open video files using the same principle. You can start the playback of music files by clicking on the particular music file when it’s added in the list, and when you do that, you will be able to see the playback bar at the top of the screen which will allow you to seek the playback.

When you add a folder, a playlist is created automatically. You can see the playlist screen open in the above screenshot. You can edit the playlist information easily via the Edit button in the control bar at the bottom of the screen. When you open a video file for playback, you will be presented with the video playback screen which you can see in the below screenshot.

You can go back to the main screen of the app at any time by clicking on the back button at the top left corner of the screen, and you can also adjust the playback functions using the various playback toggles on the screen. You can also miniaturize the video player by clicking on the four headed arrow button with inward facing arrows at the bottom right of the screen, and you will be able to see the video player interface like the below screenshot.
