Free Windows 8 Vegetarian Recipe App: Sweet’N’Spicy Veg Recipes
Vegetarians rejoice! Sweet’N’Spicy Veg Recipes is a free app for Windows 8 and 8.1 devices which only has vegetarian recipes stored on it. The app when launched will present you with tiles of assorted recipes, which you can click on to read more about them. The app is lightweight and has a massive number of recipes, so you can be assured that you are not going to run out of recipes anytime soon! The app is very smooth, and the pictures accompanying the recipes make sure that you have a rough idea about how the final recipe is going to look like before you even start preparing it.
Sweet’N’Spicy Veg Recipes is available under the Food & Dining category from the Windows App Store.
Let’s talk about its features…
When you run the Sweet’N’Spicy Veg Recipes app, you will be shown a neat interface which looks like the below screenshot.
If you look in the above screen, you can see that you are presented with the featured recipe at the left and the other recipes under various categories towards the right side of the screen. You can choose to view any of these recipes in detail by clicking on their respective tile, and when you do so, you will be presented with the recipe details screen which pretty much resembles the below screen.
The directions for cooking, ingredient list etc. is available under various categories, and to read the same, you can simply scroll to the right. You can also access the app’s neatly integrated control bars via simply right clicking on the screen. This control bar gives you access to various features of the app which you can see in the screenshot below.
You can choose to add a recipe to favorites, go back to the main screen, share or print a recipe, etc. An interesting feature of this app is that it also has a feature called My Kitchen which can be accessed by simply clicking on the namesake button in the control bar at the top. When you do so, you will be presented with an interface wherein you can set the ingredients which you currently have in your kitchen, and upon doing so when you click on the Find button, you will be able to see the various recipes which fit your ingredients / can be created with the ingredients which you have available. Let’s take a closer look at the My Kitchen interface.
You can see that I have set my ingredients. When I click on the Find Matches button, I am presented with the results which can be seen below.
You can see that one of these recipes also has a video accompanying it. Let’s go ahead and see what a video recipe looks like.
You can see that the recipe video plays towards the left side of the screen in an unobtrusive manner and the playback toggles at the bottom of the video allow you to easily control the video playback as well.
Overall, the app is well designed, and well implemented.

Sweet’N’Spicy Veg Recipes is definitely worth a look as it houses a ton of vegetarian recipes which will be enjoyed by vegetarians as well as non vegetarians all over the world. It has something for everyone’s appetite, and hence I would rate it a 5 out of 5!
