Free Reddit Client For Windows 8: Ribbit

Ribbit is a free Reddit client for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices with a metro style interface. When you install and launch the app, you will be presented with an interface which will allow you to easily login to the app by clicking on the top right screen corner, and you will be able to see the various sub reddits in the main screen of the app itself in the form of tiles. Ribbit is very lightweight, and runs great on all devices. It even allows you to log in and post comments, and even if you don’t have a Reddit id, you can still use the app without logging in.

Ribbit is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Features of Ribbit for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices:

When you install and launch Ribbit on your device, you will be presented with an interface of the first run screen (if you are running the app for the first time) which looks like the below screenshot.

You can see the various toggles and their use explained in the first run screen of the app. You can then click anywhere on the screen to hide there popups. Now, you will be presented with the actual main screen of the app in which you will be able to see the tiles of various reddits along with their previews on the tiles. If you click on the change view icon at the bottom right of the screen, you will be presented with a different kind of view where you can choose to browse the various subreddits via their category as you can see in the below screenshot.

You can also click on the profile photo like button in the top right screen corner, and now you will be presented with a screen which allows you to log in to the app via your Reddit id. In the main screen of the app, once you click on any tile that you find interesting, you will be presented with the next screen of the app containing the information about the post that you clicked on, as well as all the subreddits in the left side of the screen in a tab. You can click on any of these subreddits to open them up quickly. This screen resembles the below screenshot.

In this screen, you can return to the main screen by clicking on the back arrow button in the top left of the screen, or you can click on any of the posts in the left side of the screen to open them up in the right side of the window. If you look at the extreme right, you will be able to see various buttons which allow you to switch from post view (camera button), to comments view (popup dialog button) to allowing you to view the post on the web (globe button). When you click on the comments button for instance, you will be presented with the comments posted on that post that you are browsing.
