Reddisc is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of Reddisc for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:
When you install and launch Reddisc on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, you will be taken to the main screen of the app which looks like the above screenshot. Here, you will be able to see the various available movie titles on Redbox that you can reserve for yourself. You can also see the upcoming titles under the upcoming tab.
You can search for a particular title by using the search (magnifying glass) button at the top right corner of the screen, and you can also go through the app’s settings by clicking on the gear icon at the top left of the screen next to the magnifying glass icon. When you click on the search button, a search charm opens up from the right side of the screen.
You can type your search query in the above search charm box and hit the enter key to view your search results. When you click on a movie title in the main screen of the app, you will be presented with the details about that title, as well as its availability. You can see this in the screenshot below.
You can reserve a title if it’s available near you. You can do so by clicking on the link at the bottom of the above screen, and you can then fill in the necessary details like Name, etc. which will appear on the next screen of the app. You can also click on the Play button on the movie cover at the left side of the above screenshot.
You can see a trailer being played back in the above screenshot. As you can see, the app loads up the trailer from YouTube. You can play, pause, or seek the video using the standard controls. So in a nutshell, this basically pretty much sums up all the main features of the Reddisc app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices.
Reddisc is a pretty decent client for Redbox which allows you to reserve and rent movie discs at stores near you. The app is lightweight, has a great interface, and has no ads at all. Best part is that it also has trailers of movies that you can watch by clicking on the movie cover in the details page of a movie. Overall, it’s a pretty well polished app!
I rate it a 4 out of 5!
