Free Craigslist App For Windows 8: Craigslist Classifieds
Craigslist Classifieds is a free Craigslist app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices which allows you to browse ads posted on Craigslist, post your own ads, etc. The app is designed in a way so that it feels extremely native to the Windows 8 ecosystem, and hence makes for a great way to browse the listings posted on Craigslist by other users. It also has a nice way of viewing images posted along with ads in a slideshow like interface, and it allows you to search for listings via keywords as well. The app has various types of views which can be used while browsing, and we will talk more about that later in this review.
Craigslist Classifieds is available as a free download from the Windows App Store.
Features of Craigslist Classifieds for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:
When you download and install Craigslist Classifieds on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, you will be presented with the main interface of the app itself showing you the ads around your location. Talking about location, when you run the app for the first time, it asks you for location access, and when you approve the app to access your location, it shows you relevant ads in the main screen. The main screen of the app resembles the above screenshot.
As you can see, in the main screen of the app, you will be able to see a wide assortment of ads of various sorts. You can see a search bar at the top right side of the screen, and this is useful when you intend to search for particular items on the app. Clicking on an ad opens it up in full screen interface, which looks like the below screenshot.
As you can see above, when you click on an ad, you will be presented with all the necessary details on your screen, including the photos attached with the ad at the left side of the screen, and the details of the ad at the right side. You can also use the options displayed in the control bar at the bottom of the screen which is always open at all times. The options below allow you to change the view to split view, pin the ad to start screen, flag the ad, post your own ad, etc. At the top right screen corner, if you click on the heart button, it goes to your favorites, which can be accessed via the control bar in the main screen of the app. When you click on a photo, you will be presented with the clicked image in large size, and you can switch between photos by using arrow buttons on either side of the screen.
You can also switch to split view at any time by clicking on the Split View button in the control bar at the bottom, and now you will be shown ads in a smaller size in a pane towards the left side of the screen, and you can click on these to read about them at the right side of the screen.
In the main screen of the app, you can use the control bars (by right clicking on any empty area of the screen) to access various features of the app. The control bars can be seen in the below screenshot.
You can see options to access your favorites etc. at the top control bar, and the options to post an ad, refresh the ads etc. at the bottom control bar. The verdict:
Craigslist Classifieds makes for a good app to browse classified listings on Craigslist and also allows you to contact the ad posters with ease by displaying you their contact information in the most easiest fashion. The app is hands down one of the best Craigslist apps on the Windows App Store, and I would definitely rate it a 4 out of 5!
