Free App To Share Images Socially: Birdbox
Birdbox
Birdbox is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Features of Birdbox for Windows 8…
When you install and launch Birdbox on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 machine, you will be presented with an interface which allows you to either sign up, or to log in to the app. If this is the first time that you are using the app, you can easily sign up for Birdbox via the Sign Up button, clicking on which will bring up an interface as can be seen in the below screenshot.
Once you have signed up and logged in to the app, you will be presented with the actual interface of the app itself where you can begin posting images, or post comments on your friends’ photos. You can connect with people through the app easily by inviting them to the app by either sending out a text message, or by sending them an invite to their email id. Anyways, when you are logged in to the app, you will be presented with the below interface.
The app allows you to create a new nest (or a folder) to store your images. The nest can be created by clicking on the add new nest tile in the main screen of the app. Upon clicking on it, you will be presented with the next screen where you can specify the name of your nest. I chose to set the date of writing this article as the name for my nest.
Once that was done, I was taken to the next screen where I was prompted to add photos to my nest via the add new picture tile displayed on my screen. I quickly clicked on it and navigated to the folder where my images were stored and picked one of them. Soon enough, it was uploaded and live on Birdbox!
You can invite more people to the app by clicking on the triple lined button at the bottom right corner, and then selecting the invite button. Here, you can invite a friend either by his email or by cellphone number. To post a comment on an uploaded photo, simply click on the photo, and you will see a pane fly out from the right side of the screen. Clicking on the heart button leaves a like on the photo, and clicking on the comments button will allow you to post comments. If it is your photo that you are commenting on, you will also get an option to delete the picture in the same pane that flies in from the right side of the screen (see below screenshot).
This winds up the main features of the Birdbox app in a nutshell.
The verdict…
Birdbox is a great app to have on your device if you plan on sharing your images with your close friends. The app is a great social tool, and if sharing photos is all that you need to do to stay socially active, then this is the app that you must install and have on your device. It’s free, fast and allows for sharing only photos with your near and dear ones!
I rate the app a 5 out 5 because of the incredible and rock solid implementation of the app coupled with its great interface!
