Free Windows 8 Car Racing Game: Highway Racer
Highway Racer is a free car racing game for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to hone your racing skills on your device. When you launch the game, you will be presented with a screen which allows you to select your car and the mode in which you wish to race against the pc. You get a large collection of cars to choose from, and you can also choose the track that you wish to play on, all from the main menu of the game. The game makes for a pretty interesting pastime app and will make sure that you feel pumped up and energized all throughout while playing it, and the best part is that it weighs in at just about 50 Mb!

Main features of Highway Racer…
When you launch the game on your device, you will be shown a screen which looks like the below screenshot.
Simply click on the Start button, and you will be taken to the car selection screen.
Initially only the first car is unlocked and to unlock the others, you need to play races and win money to unlock them. Select the available car and click on the Race button at the bottom right of the screen. now, you will be presented with an interface which looks like the below screenshot. You can see the default camera angle of the game in the screenshot below.
You can then choose to switch the camera angle via the video camera icon right below the pause button.
You can see a different camera angle in the screenshot above. You can accelerate via either the onscreen accelerate pedal at the bottom right or via the up arrow key. You can brake using the brake pedal on the bottom left or via the down arrow button. If you use the on screen buttons, you can use the tilt steering option. You can also use the right and left arrow buttons on your keyboard if you don’t have a touchscreen. Below, you can see the gameplay in action.
You can see the vitals like speed etc. at the right side of the screen. The game can be paused either via the pause button or via the Esc. key.
You can go to the main menu, toggle the settings or resume the game from the pause menu. This basically winds up the main features of Highway Racer.
