Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a free game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to play as Captain America on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device. When you run the game, you will be prompted to enter your name with which you want to play the game, and once you have done so, you will be taken to the game introduction screen which is a dialog between Nick Fury and Captain America. You can also choose to skip the same, and once presented with the gameplay screen, you will be briefed about the missions that you have to accomplish, the controls, etc. The game supports touch and non touch devices, and hence makes for a good download on devices of any type. The game is designed in a comic like style, with each character having thick black outlines, much like something you’d obtain if you outlined something with a sketch pen. This in my opinion gives a really cool feel to the game and brings something different to the table.

When you run the game, you will be presented with the below screenshot.
Once you pass the loading screen above, you will be presented with the below interface where you have to enter your name.
Click Save above, and you will be taken to the brief dialog between Nick Fury and Captain America. You can also choose to skip this by clicking Skip on the bottom right of the screen.
Once through this part, you will be taken to the gameplay screen wherein you will be detailed about your missions. Your missions will be shown in the screen which follows. The more number of missions you accomplish, the better star rating you obtain.
Click Play to start the game and hence be presented with the actual gameplay.
As I have already said above, the game has a comic like feel to it because of the thick outline given to the objects and the shader profile used. This is quite apt actually, as Captain America is nothing but a Marvel comic character after all! You can use the touch controls at the bottom left and the bottom right of the screen, or you can also use WASD movement keys on non touch devices as well. The more people you kill, the better points you score. You can also see your remaining health at the top left next to the pause button.
You can see your performance analysis above after the mission gets completed. Now, you will be taken to the level map from where you can choose to play the next levels.

The verdict:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a well designed game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to play as Captain America and unleash your inner hero! The app has great graphics, sound effects, and overall has a nice entire feel to it. The only thing that I don’t quite like about the app is its heavy size, but I’ll give that a pass because the graphics are simply so awesome that its understandable that the game has a large size.
