When you install and launch the game on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, you will be presented with the main screen of the game itself where you have to enter your name, and then you will be able to start the game via the Play button in the main menu. The main screen of the game resembles the below screenshot.
Once you have entered your name in the main screen of the game, you will be taken to the main menu where after clicking on the Play button, you will be able to select a difficulty level that you wish to play. Casual level is recommended for beginners. When you have done that, you will now be taken to the game itself which will start up by showing you a quick cut scene movie which will tell you about the storyline of the game in brief. You can skip through this by pressing the skip button.
When it’s skipped, you will be taken to the gameplay screen. Here, you will be prompted if you want to start a quick tutorial or not. If you choose to begin a tutorial, you will be shown the various instructions on your screen regarding how you have to play the game. The tutorial prompt screen looks like the below screenshot.
You can access the items in your inventory by clicking on them at the bottom of the screen, inside the inventory box. The inventory box stores items which can be used for completing other tasks that will give you potential clues or evidences. You can see the inventory with a few items below.
You can open up your diary by clicking on its icon at the bottom left. The diary and the map icons are located right next to each other, and the best part is that you can choose to view any of these at any point of the game, without losing on game time. The diary holds all your collected evidences, and also shows you a list of your objectives. You can use the Hint button at the bottom right of the screen in case you get stuck at any point in the game. To pause the game, simply press the Esc. button, and you will be shown the pause menu as you can see in the below screenshot.
