Windows 8 Image Effect App: Beautify Photos With One Click

Image Effect is a free Windows 8 image effect app, available under Photo category of Windows Store. It’s a simple app that lets you apply one click effects to your photos. Additionally, you can flip photos vertically or horizontally if you want. The app offers a collection of 14 different color effects and works best with images of high resolution.  

Basically this free image effect app is designed to work with high-quality photos, and won’t impress you much if you try it on photos taken by low-resolution cameras. But if your photos are in best picture quality, you can generate stunning color effects within seconds and apply them to your photos using Image Effect app.

A Look at various Color Effects offered by Image Effect App:

Image Effect offers a nice collection of beautiful color effects. When you launch the app after installation (scroll down to the end to see how to download and install the app), you will see the effects listed on the left side, along with a drawing canvas like thing that covers the central part. Options to open, save, and flipping photo are listed on the right. Just browse any photo from your system and it will get opened on the canvas. Now you can simply click on the various effects to test them on your photo. To apply the desired effect to the photo, simply tap Apply and then save it using Save button.

One thing more that you will notice in the app is that for some effects, it shows sliders to adjust the RGB values of the photo. However, none of the sliders worked during my testing. You can try it at your end and see if it works for you.

Verdict:

Well Image Effect is a nice Windows 8 image effect app, but only for high-quality photos. It won’t produce impressive results with normal photos and the RGB control sliders might also not work. However, it’s fast, simple, and effective. Though it would have better if the app was able to batch process images.

So basically there’s a mix of pros and cons with this app. You can try it and see it if suits your needs.
