When you install and launch HinKhoj Hindi English Dictionary app on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device, you will be presented with the main screen of the app which shows you the word of the day.
As you can see in the above screen, you will be shown the word of the day along with its meaning. You will also be able to see the date the word was added, and you can see how it’s used while forming sentences. The sentence examples given makes for an easy understanding of the word and grammatically correct usage of the same. Towards the left side of the screen, you will be able to see a search bar which can be used to look up Hindi synonyms of English words. You can type in an English word, and its Hindi counterpart will be displayed on your screen along with its usage details.
You can see the search results of ‘jingoism’ in the above screen. The app also shows the similar words pertaining to the search term. You can always use the back button at the top left screen corner to go back to the previous screen of the app. In the main screen, you can also switch to Online or offline mode via a simple toggle at the left, access the settings, view your search history and saved terms using My dictionary button, etc. Clicking on the My Dictionary button in the main screen of the app will show you the following screen, where you can click on search history or saved words link at the left side of the screen.
You can also clean your history in the above screen. If you click on the app’s settings, you will be presented with the sole option that allows you to switch off or on the remember search history mode.

Overall, I love the app for its design, functionality, and native look to the Windows 8 ecosystem. Also another point worth noting is that the app is completely free from ads!
