Free Physics Game For Windows 8: Knox’s Room

Knox’s Room is a free Physics game for Windows 8/8.1 in which you have to put a basketball into a cardboard box by assessing the gravity and forces offered by various objects in the gameplay room. When you start the game, you will be prompted to select the level that you wish to play, and then you can select the unlocked level number. At the beginning only level 1 is unlocked, but more levels get unlocked as you play and complete more and more levels. Once a level has been completed, the game awards you with star rating based on your performance on that particular level.

Knox’s Room is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Playing this Physics Game on Windows 8…

When you install and launch Knox’s Room on your Windows 8/8.1 device, you will be presented with an interface which looks like the below screenshot.

Knox's Room Main Screen

In the above screen, you can enter your name and your passphrase with which you wish to play the game. Upon doing so, simply press OK and click on the PLAY button at the bottom right corner of the screen. Once you click on the PLAY button, you will be presented with the difficulty selection page.

Knox's Room Difficulty Levels

In the above screen, you can scroll and choose the difficulty level that you wish to play. At the beginning, only the EASY difficulty level is unlocked and when that level has been completed, it is only then that you will be able to play the other difficulty levels. Each level has a total of 45 sub-levels. For now, let’s select the EASY difficulty level by clicking on it.

Knox's Room Level Selection

As I have already completed the first sub level, hence you can see that my second sub level is also unlocked. Let’s choose one of these and see how the gameplay looks and feels like.

Knox's Room Start Game

As you can see in the above screenshot, you have to guide the basketball into the cardboard box. You can do so by positioning the objects using mouse clicks appropriately. At the beginning, everything is stationary and you can move the objects around using mouse clicks. Choose wisely where you place the objects, because once you click on the play button at the top right of the above screen, the ball falls, gravity takes over and physics guides the ball into the cardboard. So the only gameplay that you will do is to place the objects appropriately by judging that when the gravity takes over, where will the basketball suspended in mid air fall and how you will have to do the object placement so that it falls into the cardboard box.

Knox's Room Level Complete Star Rating

Once you have completed a level, you will be given a star rating based on your performance in that level. You can choose to restart the level, move on to the next level or to go to the main menu of the game using the options provided in the above star rating screenshot.

Well, this basically concludes the how-to on playing this incredibly addictive physics game on your Windows 8 device! If you want more, check out Physamajig and Geek Trivia.

The Verdict…

Knox’s Room is a great game to have on your device if you are looking for a game that will allow you to test your Physics knowledge and skills and apply them in a fun and interactive way. The only thing that I don’t like about this game is that it has top banner ads, which may sometimes get in the way of the game. Apart from that, the app works incredibly smoothly, and hence is worthy of a well deserved 4 out of 5 rating.
