Free Windows 8 Video Player App: Moto Player

Moto Player is a free video player app for Windows 8 and 8.1. The app supports a large variety of video formats, avi, mp4, wmv, etc. being a few of them. The app can effortlessly play back videos on your device, and the main strength of the app is its extremely minimal design. Simply launch the app, fire up the control bar, and select the Open File button. Navigate and select the file that you wish to play back, and your file will be opened up on your screen, and video playback will start. It’s as easy as that!

Moto Player is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Main features of Moto Player for Windows 8:

When you launch the Moto Player app on your device, you will be presented with the below shown interface.

Moto Player Main screen

You can see that a control bar is always open at the bottom of the screen. To open a video file, simply click on the Open File button on the control bar, navigate and select the file that you wish to play back. Once the video file has been opened up on your screen, you will be able to see the video playback interface.

Moto Player Video Playback

You can see a video file that I have opened up for playback in the above screen. You can see the seek bar in the above screen. To access the other playback controls, you can right click on the screen to reveal the control bar at the bottom of the screen. The control bar houses the other playback controls like pause, rewind, etc. You can see the control bar shown in the below screenshot.

Via the control bar of the app, you can also choose to view the About section of the app which is nothing but the brief information about the app and its developers. If you have seen the above screenshots, you would observe and say that the video player interface is not exactly a full screen interface. So let me clarify that –  the video gets converted to full screen interface automatically after a few seconds of playback, and there is absolutely nothing which obstructs the video playback.

This basically sums up the main features of the Moto Player app for Windows 8. You can also check out Movies Player and player(Video) apps for Windows 8 and 8.1, which are also good video player apps for Windows 8 devices.

The verdict:

Moto Player is an extremely well designed app which allows for smooth video playback on all devices. The app supports a ton of video formats, and there are barely any video file formats which aren’t supported by this app. The app is lightweight as well, and doesn’t drain a lot of processor and battery juice while running. Overall the app has all it takes to be a great video player application for Windows 8 devices!

I rate it a 4.5 out of 5!
