Lost Souls: Enchanted Paintings is a free mystery game app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to find the cause behind the disappearance of your son. The game starts off with a family receiving a painting from an unknown sender, and the little boy of the house is excited and asks for it to be hanged in his room – the mother gives in and hangs the painting in his room. But the painting is apparently possessed / bewitched, and at night, the boy disappears into the painting, never to be found by CIA, FBI and others. The desperate mother goes to a clairvoyant who tells her that she can put her on the path of finding the boy, and finally you play as the mother, the main protagonist of the game who can now travel inside the paintings. If you ask me, this is a pretty interesting plot!
The game is based on mouse clicks, so you don’t need to learn the controls. All you have to do is to click on the objects to pick them up, use them from your inventory when needed, and all your essential clues go into your diary. The game also has limited number of hints which when used take a certain amount of time to recharge. They can be pretty handy if in case you get stuck at some point.

When you install and launch the game on your device, you will be presented with an interface as can be seen in the screenshot below.
The above screenshot illustrates the gameplay video which is presented on your screen as soon as you launch the game on your device. You can skip this via the conveniently located Skip button at the top right corner of the screen. Once skipped, you will be taken to the main menu of the app where you can set your name, choose the difficulty level and start playing.
After entering your name, click Play and choose your desired difficulty level. Now, you will be presented with the game itself. In the game, you can interact with the objects by clicking on them. You can see that you have to click and drag the mouse across the painting shown in the screenshot below to clear it off of the dust.
You can now enter the cleaned painting by clicking on it. Once inside, you will be transported to a completely different world. Here, you will be shown guided instructions on how to accomplish various tasks.
Everything that you pick up goes into your inventory at the bottom of the screen. You can access the menu by clicking on the Menu button, your diary by clicking on the diary icon just below the Menu button at the bottom left and you can use your hints by clicking on the Hint button at the bottom right of the screen. The game also has certain mini games which you have to complete to uncover major clues or evidences.
