Fun Game For Windows 8 To Test Your Reflexes: Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird is a free fun game for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 that allows you to stay entertained for hours and test your reflexes at the same time! You might have already played this game on Android, and now it has been ported to run on our beloved Windows 8 platform as well! In the game, you have to flap the bird to keep it airborne and make it successfully pass through the pipe obstacles. The controls are very easy, all you have to do is to tap on the screen to keep the bird flying, and for non touch screen device users, you can use mouse clicks to keep the bird airborne.

Flappy Bird is available for free from the Windows App Store. If you want to check out similar games of Flappy Bird for Android, you may want to check out this link.

Play Flappy Bird on your Windows 8 or 8.1 Device and have fun…

When you launch the Flappy Bird game on your device upon installing it, you will be taken to a screen, which looks like the below screenshot.

main screen

You can click on Play (green triangular button) in the above screen to start the game. Playing the game is ridiculously easy, and all you have to do is to use left mouse click/ screen taps on touchscreen devices to keep the bird airborne. The aim is to fly the bird through the gaps in between as many pipes as possible, thereby creating the highest possible score. The gameplay screen looks like the below screenshot.

gameplay

As you can see, the bird is flying successfully through the gaps in the pipes, and the score counter located at the top center of the screen tells you how many pipes you have flown through. It’s game over when you crash on a pipe or fall down on the ground.

game over

When the game gets over, you will be shown your score and the best score that you have made in the center of the screen, along with options to rate the game, play another game, or access the themes. To use themes, you have to buy the pro version of the game, but that’s a minor annoyance as that does not intrude in gameplay of the game in any manner. The game also rewards you gold, silver, or bronze medals based on your performance in the game.

Overall, the game is pretty well developed, and the only major qualm that I felt about the game is that there are no leaderboards in the game unlike the original Flappy Bird game for Android. But apart from that, the game comes very close to mimic the exact graphics and gameplay performance of the original Flappy Bird game, and this is really commendable, because the game has not been developed by the developer of the original Flappy Bird game. This is pretty much all that you need to know to get started with playing the Flappy Bird game on your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device!

The Verdict…

Flappy Bird is a pretty addictive game and will surely keep you hooked for hours. Once you start playing this game, it’s hard to stop. You may even go insane while playing this game because of the difficulty that first time players encounter while playing the game, but once you get the hang of the game, you are going to love it! The gameplay of the game is smooth, and it runs on touch and non touch devices without any issues. My only complaint is that the game has no leaderboard where you can compete against your friends and compare your score. Other minor annoyance is that the game does not run in portrait mode, and on the game over screen, there is a small ad that gets displayed at the top. Themes have to be purchased, so that is a negative as well; but leaving all that aside and focusing on the main gameplay performance of this game, I feel that this game deserves a 3.5 out of 5.

Get Flappy Bird.
